What is Multimedia

 For twenty years or so, the most influential communication industries have been converging: Publishing, Broadcasting and Computing. Interactive multimedia and electronic publishing are products of this convergence, and their impact on all kinds of communication, from marketing to education, is likely to be profound.

Multimedia means different things in different contexts. In the world of desktop computing , it describes a computer's abilities to deliver - interactively and simultaneously on the same screen - a mixture of "media" or  "data types" , principally text, graphics, animation, photographic quality stills, moving video and sound. In education interactivitybis an important additional componant of the specification.
